DIRECTOR OF NJSIAA TO RETIRE IN JANUARY

The director of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association is calling it quits in January.  Steve Timko has announced that he will retire from the position at the end of the year after a half century involving in high school sports. ##

FIRE NEAR DELAWARE MEMORIAL BRIDGE FORCES IT TO CLOSE

A fire near the Delaware Memorial Bridge forced the bridge to shut down in both directions Wednesday morning.  Police say a construction related fire under the bridge forced heavy black smoke into the sky, forcing the span to shut down. ##

ATLANTIC CITY DEMOCRATS SELECT FRANK GILLIAM FOR MAYOR

Atlantic City democrats have selected Councilman Frank Gilliam to be their mayoral candidate in November.  Gilliam turned back a challenge from fellow Councilman Marty Small.  Mail in ballots appeared to be the difference maker in this primary election. ##

REPORT: VINELAND SEARS LOCATION SET TO CLOSE AFTER SUMMER

Sears is closing 16 additional stores, including the location in Vineland.  Business Insider reports that the company will also close 49 additional Kmart stores, and seven Sears Auto Centers, all by September. ##
