CHRISTIE VETOES BILL THAT WOULD HAVE SURRENDERED PENSION CONTROL

Governor Christie has vetoed a law that would have given control to police and firefighters’ pensions to the unions.  Christie said he would only approve the bill if so-called “golden parachutes” including huge payouts for unused sick time were wiped out. ##

“SNOOKI” LAW SIGNED BY NJ GOVERNOR CHRIS CHRISTIE

The so-called “Snooki” law is on the books.  Governor Christie signed a bill into law Monday that caps the amount of money a university can pay for a guest speaker at $10,000.  The law comes after “Jersey Shore” star Snooki Polizzi was paid $32,00 to speak at Rutgers University six years ago. ##

DESPITE CONCERNS, NO CHANGES TO ATLANTIC COUNTY BEACH PROJECT

State and federal officials will not be changing the schedule for an Atlantic County beach fill project that will take place this summer.  Ventnor officials have complained about the beach and dune project, saying it will impact it summer season.  The Ventnor project will start in early June and run into July. ##

VINELAND COPS BUST MAN WITH SAWED OFF SHOTGUN

Vineland Police arrested a man last week who was in possession of a sawed off shotgun.  Police sthey found 25 year old Ramond Hannah lying on the ground last Tuesday morning with a strong smell of alcohol around him.  He had two shotgun shells in his pocket. ##
