BRIDGETON POLICE INVESTIGATING CAUSE OF HOUSE FIRE

Bridgeton Police are investigating the cause of a house fire over the weekend.  Police responded to a burglar alarm call at a home on Colfax Street; when they arrived, the unoccupied house was up in flames.  No suspects are in custody. ##

REPORT: VENTNOR TO GET NEW POLICE CHIEF MAY 1ST

Venter is getting a new police chief as of May 1st.  The Press of Atlantic City reports that Chief Michael Miller is retiring and Captain Doug Biagi will become the new chief at the beginning of next month. ##

BIG SCHEDULE CHANGES IN LONGPORT/MARGATE DUNE PROJECT

There are major changes coming to the schedule for a massive dune project in Margate and Longport.  Longport will likely see some work conducted this summer, while Margate may skate this summer and have its work conducted in the fall.  Dredges scheduled to do the work are still in Florida. ##

COAST GUARD SHIP WON’T BE SUNK TUESDAY, ROUGH SEAS

A Coast Guard cutter that was made famous during the movie “The Perfect Storm” will not be sunk off the coast of Cape May as planned on Tuesday.  The “Tamaroa” will be sunk later this week or next due to rough seas.  It’s being intentionally sunk to be used as an artificial reef. ##
