NORTH WILDWOOD EARNS GREATER DISCOUNT ON FLOOD INSURANCE RATES

North Wildwood will be able to offer its property owners a higher discount on flood insurance rates.  City leaders announced that the city has earned a higher rating in the Community Rating System which will now provide property owners with a 20 percent discount on their flood insurance premiums, an betterment of five percent. ##

JUDGE: STATE CAN CUT AC FIREFIGHTERS PAY, BENEFITS

A judge has ruled that yes, the State of New Jersey can cut the salaries and benefits provided to firefighters in Atlantic City.  Firefighters took the cuts to court, which amount to about 25 percent of the firefighters’ overall compensation.  The union representing the firefighters still believes the cuts are unconstitutional. ##

AVERAGE PROPERTY TAX BILL IN NJ? JUST OVER $5K

A new property tax survey by RealtyTrac.com shows the average Cape May County household pays just over $5,000 per year in property taxes.  New Jersey continues to have the highest property taxes in the country.  The average market value of each home is just over $481,000 in Cape May County. ##

BE WARNED: STATE COPS ARE WATCHING YOU TEXTING WHILE DRIVING

New Jersey State Police announced the re-launch of an aggressive driving hotline in an attempt to crack down on motorists who text while drive.  State Police say they will also send warning letters to individuals who have been seen texting while driving as part of a major crackdown during the month of April. ##
