REPORT: HARD ROCK COULD TAKE A HALF BILLION DOLLARS TO OPEN

The new Hard Rock Casino that will open at the former Trump Taj Mahal will take about $500 million in investment.  The Press of Atlantic City reports that the higher figure was announced at a gaming conference at Harrah’s.  Officials thought only $400 million was needed. ##

TWO CAPTURED WITH FIVE POUNDS OF METH IN ATLANTIC CITY

Two adults have been arrested and charged with having five pounds of crystal meth in Atlantic City.  New Jersey Attorney General Christopher Porrino announced that 27 year old Eder Gonzalez of California and 27 year old Sandra Parra-Quintero were both indicted on Wednesday.  Both could spend decades behind bars. ##

JUDGE: STATE CAN CUT COPS PAY, BUT NO LAYOFFS

New Jersey can cut the salaries of employees of the Atlantic City Police Department, but it can not layoff any cops.  A judge made that ruling on Tuesday, saying that public safety would be compromised if 19 police officers were laid off by the State. ##

CARL ICHAN PURCHASES DEBT WITH CHELSEA HOTEL

Carl Ichan has rolled the dice once again in Atlantic City.  Ichan has purchased the debt associated with the Chelsea Hotel, according to NJ.com.  Ichan took over the mortgage on the property back on May 16th. ##
