STUCK: 14 RESCUED FROM ELEVATOR AT TROPICANA CASINO

It was a difficult start to the day early Sunday morning for the Atlantic City Fire Department.  It had to rescue 14 people who were stuck inside an elevator at the Tropicana Casino in Atlantic City.  Each of those who had to be rescued were lifted 100 feet up the elevator shaft. ##

VENTNOR MAN INDICTED ON STABBING, MURDER IN AC

51 year old Jose B. Lopez of Ventnor has been indicted in connection with a double stabbing in Atlantic City earlier this year that left one victim dead.  Lopez has been charged with murder, attempted murder and other offenses relating to the stabbing that killed 54 year old Bessie Blanco of Atlantic City. ##

CRDA GIVES THUMBS UP TO ATLANTIC CITY BEER GARDEN

The Casino Reinvestment Development Authority has given a thumbs up to a beer garden in Atlantic City.  The Authority approved a plan to put the beer garden between South California and South Belmont Avenues.  Over 300 people may be accommodated, and there will be two bars.  It could open July 4th. ##

STATE PRIVATIZES ATLANTIC CITY’S TRASH COLLECTION SERVICES

The State of New Jersey decided to privatize Atlantic City’s trash collection services without approval from City Council.  A three year deal has been awarded to Gold Medal Environmental, according to the Press of Atlantic City.  Council meets next tomorrow. ##
