BOMB THREATS IN ATLANTIC CITY, NOTHING FOUND

Atlantic City Police responded to two separate bomb threats on Monday morning.  One threat was against a court house, the other, an apartment complex.  No explosives were found, and one suspect was arrested. ##

FORMER AC COUNCILMAN SENTENCED TO SIX MONTHS IN PRISON

It’s six months in prison for former Atlantic City Councilman John Schultz.  He received the prison term on Monday in a federal court for his role in a scheme to avoid paying over $100,000 in taxes to the IRS.  Schultz is 74 years old and took responsibility for the crime. ##

ATLANTIC CITY’S CASINOS SEE BUMP IN REVENUE AFTER TAJ CLOSURE

Atlantic City’s casinos enjoyed a bump in revenue during the fourth quarter of 2016 after the Taj Mahal closed.  New figures show a quarterly profit figure of $118.1 million for the casinos, which was up by over $18 million from the same quarter in 2015. ##

JUDGE: STATE CAN CUT AC FIREFIGHTERS PAY, BENEFITS

A judge has ruled that yes, the State of New Jersey can cut the salaries and benefits provided to firefighters in Atlantic City.  Firefighters took the cuts to court, which amount to about 25 percent of the firefighters’ overall compensation.  The union representing the firefighters still believes the cuts are unconstitutional. ##
