NEW JITNEY BILL MAY REQUIRE REGISTRATION IN COMMUNITIES

A new bill has been approved by the State Assembly that would require the owners of Jitney buses to register in each town for which they operate.  Some towns including Avalon require Jitney bus drivers to pass background checks and register with the Borough, while some other municipalities where Jitneys operate do not. ##

AVALON BEACH FILL PROJECT ENDS OVER HOLIDAY WEEKEND

Avalon’s beach fill project was completed during the first half of Memorial Day weekend.  Beaches from 77th Street to 80th Street have new sand; Avalon placed about one million cubic yards of sand on its beaches in advance of summer.  This major project ends with sand being placed on Stone Harbor’s northern beaches. ##

AVALON RECEIVES BIG STATE GRANT FOR STREET CONSTRUCTION

Avalon has received a large state grant for street reconstruction.  Mayor Marty Pagliughi announced that the Borough has received over $180,000 for the reconstruction of a portion of 39th Street in the community.  The grant came from the New Jersey Department of Transportation. ##

AVALON, CAPE MAY AMONG TOWNS GETTING NJDOT FUNDING
