AVALON RECEIVES $30,000 STATE GRANT FOR TREE PLANTINGS

18 communities throughout the State have received grant funding for various tree projects, and the only local community to obtain a grant was Avalon.  NJDEP Commissioner Bob Martin announced that $30,000 is being delivered to Avalon for a tree planting program throughout the community.  A total of $400,000 was handed out by the State. ##

AVALON DISCUSSES ICE CREAM ON THE BEACH, GETS GRANT FOR TREES

The Avalon Borough Council received a $30,000 state grant to plant dozens of trees throughout the Borough.  Last night, Council entertained discussion about eliminating ice cream trucks and placing limited ice cream vending on the beach.  Council will put the contract out to bid in the fall. ##

WILDWOOD MOVIE NIGHT POSTPONED; AVALON’S MOVES INSIDE

Avalon’s free beach movie has moved inside this evening due to the rain.  Avalon will show the movie “Storks” at 8:30pm inside Avalon Community Hall.  Wildwood has postponed its showing of the movie “Moana”; it will be shown tomorrow night. ##

FLYERS CHARITIES DONATES $13,500 TO LOCAL VETERANS ORGANIZATION

The Philadelphia Flyers Charities presented a check totaling $13,500 to the Citizens/Veterans Advisory Committee in Cape May County. The Flyers’ Director of Sports Medicine, Jim McCrossin was on hand to present American Legion Post #331 with the donation. The money will be used to assist veterans with emergency needs in Cape May County. ##
