MAN STEALS CIGARETTES AT WAWA..IN FRONT OF TWO COPS

A man stole nine packs of cigarettes at a Wawa in Pleasantville last week, right in the presence of two uniformed police officers.  32 year old Robert Jones of Egg Harbor Township was arrested after police conducted a brief chase.  Jones was arrested and released on a summons. ##

JERSEY SHORE TOWN MAY ELIMINATE PAID FIRE FIGHTERS

A small beach community at the Jersey Shore may decide next week to lay off three paid firefighters.  Deal officials tell the Asbury Park Press that it’s an economic decision; but the firemen may sue, saying the issue is really over an overtime pay dispute. ##

AMAZON OPENS LARGE NJ FACILITY; TWO MORE ON THE WAY

Amazon has opened one of its largest distribution facilities in Cateret, New Jersey.  The new facility is approximately 1 million square feet in size and will employ 2,000 people.  Two more distribution facilities will be opened by Amazon in New Jersey. ##

WOODBINE MAINTAINS SECOND LOWEST TAX RATE IN NEW JERSEY

Woodbine maintains the second lowest tax rate in the State of New Jersey.  The Woodbine Borough Council approved a new budget this week that maintains the local purpose tax at $234 annually per $100,000 of assessed valuation.  15 percent of the collection goes to the County. ##
