CAPE MAY COUNCIL TO MEET, CREATE BUREAU OF FIRE PREVENTION

Cape May’s city council meets this evening and is expected to approve an ordinance that would crest a bureau of fire prevention in the city. Council may also make an appointment to the Planning Board. Tonight’s meeting starts at 6pm. ##

FEDS INVESTIGATION OF HEALTH CARE BENEFITS EXPANDS

First it was Margate, now it’s also Ventnor and Atlantic City who are being investigated by the feds over public health benefits. Two other communities are being investigated after Margate confirmed that its health insurance claims skyrocketed from one year to the next. ##

SPORTS: SEA ISLE WINS BESCHEN CALLHAN EVENT IN NORTH WILDWOOD

A team title for the Sea Isle City Beach Patrol in the annual Beschen Callhan lifeguard race in North Wildwood. The Gazette Leader’s Brian Cunniff reports that Sea Isle won the title on a tiebreaker after an Avalon surf dash team was disqualified for a uniform violation. ##
