21 TO SMOKE? STATE COULD RAISE TOBACCO AGE

New Jersey could raise the legal age for tobacco use from 19 to 21.  An Assembly committee approved a measure that would raise the legal tobacco use age by two years, but it comes with a price…it could cost the state nearly $16 million annually in tax revenue. ##

Wildwood Catholic has captured the South Jersey Non Public-B softball championship with a 12-2 win over Mater Dei Thursday afternoon.  The Lady Crusaders next battle Lodi Immaculate in a state championship game this weekend at Kean University. ##

CHRISTIE: HELP COMING TO ATLANTIC CITY GAMING HALLS

Governor Christie says he will have details in about a month on a new plan that will provide some regulatory relief for gaming halls in Atlantic City.  Christie has not discussed specifics, but he says it’s time to bring the regulations governing the casinos into the 21st century. ##

REPORT: FATAL POLICE SHOOTING WAS JUSTIFIED IN VINELAND

The fatal shooting of Richard Bard Jr. in Vineland last year by city police was completely justified.  That’s the finding of a new report issued by the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office on Thursday.  The report says Bard fired at police first, with the bullet just missing the head of an officer. ##
