State lawmakers may soon have a say in how much surplus Horizon Blue Cross-Blue Shield is allowed to keep.  Governor Christie’s legislation has cleared a key Senate committee this week but it may face democratic opposition in the New Jersey Assembly. ##

NW BEACH PATROL CHIEF ATTENDS RIP CURRENT WORKSHOP

The head of the North Wildwood Beach Patrol attended a safety workshop in Delaware last week designed to educate officials about rip currents and surf zones.  Tony Cavalier was one of two beach patrol captains from Cape May County to attend the event. ##

FORMER TEACHER PLEADS GUILTY TO HAVING RELATIONSHIP WITH MINOR

A former school teacher at Buena Regional High School has pleaded guilty to charges that he had an inappropriate relationship with a minor.  33 year old William J. Jacobs met with the student on more than one occasion, and exchanged hundreds of electronic communications with the same student. ##

ANGLESEA NIGHT MARKET EVENTS BEGIN THURSDAY IN NORTH WILDWOOD

North Wildwood’s popular Anglesea Night Market events kick off this Thursday night in the city.  North Wildwood will host four food truck events this summer with nearly 20 food trucks participating.  The event will begin at 4pm, and be extended until 10pm. ##
