HIGH SURF ADVISORY, RIP CURRENTS AT BEACHES TODAY

It’s not a beach day at the shore, but there are some coastal hazards courtesy of an offshore storm.  The National Weather Service issued a High Surf Advisory and a high risk for rip currents along the beaches.  Beach erosion is possible due to long ocean swells. ##

WILDWOOD BEACH PATROL ANNOUNCES LIMITED LIFEGUARDS AFTER LABOR DAY

The Wildwood Beach Patrol will guard a limited number of beaches after the Labor Day holiday.  The Patrol will also not provide any lifeguarding services after biker weekend, the weekend after Labor Day.  Beach taxi service will be available through September 10th. ##

REPORT: ATLANTIC CITY RECEIVES FOUR APPLICANTS FOR BADER FIELD

Atlantic  City has received four applications for the potential redevelopment of Bader Field.  The Press of Atlantic City reports that all four applications were due by Monday morning; one came from a minor league baseball team while a second came from Glenn Straub, the former owner of the Revel Casino. ##

DEMOCRATS TO PICK REPLACEMENT FOR SENATOR WHELAN SEPTEMBER 5

Atlantic County democrats will gather the day after Labor Day to pick a replacement for the late State Senator James Whelan.  Whelan passed away last week from a heart attack; voters will fill his seat during the November election. ##
