CHRISTIE SIGNS FANTASY SPORTS BETTING BILL INTO LAW

Governor Christie has signed a measure into law that regulates fantasy sports signs like Draft King.  The new legislation provides that the state Division of Community Affairs will have to issue permits to fantasy sports operators.  New Jersey is the 16th state to regulate this activity. ##

DENNIS TOWNSHIP SEARCHING FOR PART TIME ADMINISTRATOR

Dennis Township is poised to hire a part time administrator.  The Township’s website has the job listed on its front page and requires the candidate to have four years of government experience.  The Township is accepting applications through September 6th. ##

AVALON RECEIVES $30,000 STATE GRANT FOR TREE PLANTINGS

18 communities throughout the State have received grant funding for various tree projects, and the only local community to obtain a grant was Avalon.  NJDEP Commissioner Bob Martin announced that $30,000 is being delivered to Avalon for a tree planting program throughout the community.  A total of $400,000 was handed out by the State. ##

DEMOCRATS IN ATLANTIC COUNTY HAVE A MONTH TO REPLACE WHELAN

Democrats in Atlantic County have just over a month to replace Senator James Whelan, who passed away Tuesday.  Whelan was slated to retire at the end of the year; democrat Colin Bell and republican Chris Brown are vying for his seat in November. ##
