JURY SELECTION BEGINS IN MENENDEZ CORRUPTION TRIAL

Jury selection begins in a federal courtroom today for the upcoming corruption and bribery trial involving New Jersey Senator Robert Menendez.  Menendez is accused of accepting lavish gifts from a Florida doctor in return for political favors.  The trial could begin this fall. ##

NJ GETTING OVER $55 MILLION IN RELIEF FOR HURRICANE SANDY

Congressman Frank Pallone says New Jersey is getting $55.4 million to clean up sand and debris from Hurricane Sandy.  Pallone says the money will be spent to remove debris and sand from navigable waterways throughout the Garden State. ##

CREST ANNOUNCES POST SUMMER REDUCTION IN GUARDED BEACHES

Wildwood Crest has announced a reduction in lifeguard services following Labor Day weekend.  Crest officials say guards will be manned at only five beaches during the week after Labor Day, and full coverage for the season will end on Sunday, September 10th.  After that, only an emergency response team is available on weekends. ##

FIRE AT ATLANTIC CITY MOTEL WHERE GATOR WAS FOUND

A suspicious fire over the weekend at the Bayview Inn and Suites in Atlantic City, the troubled motel where an alligator was found in the pool last week.  Firefighters say the blaze was contained to one room at the motel and there were no injuries; the motel is being boarded up. ##
