SPORTS: MIDDLE BEATS LOWER IN LACROSSE, GIRLS NEAR RECORDS

Middle Township’s girls lacrosse team beat Lower Cape May, 22-6 on Thursday as two Lady Panthers approached all time offensive records.  Bridget Ruskey scored seven goals, and now is just three goals away from the state record.  Allison Hunter had eight assists, leaving her four away from that state record. ##

BURGER KING RESTAURANT ROBBED IN VINELAND

Vineland Police are searching for two armed men who robbed a Burger King restaurant in the city Thursday night.  Police say the Burger King located in the Maintree Shopping Center was robbed at 10pm by two men armed with guns.  No injuries are reported. ##

ARBOR DAY CELEBRATIONS TO BE HELD IN THE COUNTY ON FRIDAY

Arbor Day celebrations will be held in several Cape May County municipalities on Thursday.  One of the events occurs in Avalon, where the Avalon Garden Club will join Mayor Martin Pagliughi to plant a new tree on a traffic island along Dune Drive. ##

TRAFFIC ADVISORIES IN EFFECT THIS WEEKEND IN NORTH WILDWOOD

Various traffic advisories are in effect in North Wildwood this weekend for a two day running event.  A 5k run and a children’s run will be held on Saturday, with a half marathon to be held on Sunday.  There will be some road closures northbound and westbound on select streets in the city. ##
