SZCZUR APPEARS IN HIS FIRST GAME FOR SAN DIEGO PADRES

Matt Szczur appeared in his first game for the San Diego Padres on Tuesday.  Szczur grounded out in the seventh inning and played some left field for the Padres during an 11-0 loss to the Texas Rangers.  Szczur was traded by the Cubs to the Padres this week. ##

MATT SZCZUR NOW A MEMBER OF SAN DIEGO PADRES

Lower Cape May Regional High School graduate Matt Szczur is now a member of the San Diego Padres.  The world champion Cubs traded Szczur to the Padres for a minor league pitcher.  Szczur is expected to get more playing time with the Padres than he did in Chicago. ##

SPORTS: RYAN HOWARD CUT BY ATLANTA BRAVES MINOR LEAGUE SYSTEM

It looks like former Phillie Ryan Howard may have seen his career come to an end.  Howard was cut Monday by the Atlanta Braves where he was playing Triple A baseball.  Howard batted only .182 with one home run in the minors. ##

SPORTS: REARDON QUITS AS ST. AUGUSTINE FOOTBALL COACH

A surprise resignation in the local high school football ranks. Mark Reardon has resigned as the head football coach at St. Augustine High School after he won nine of his ten games last season.  Reardon coached the Hermits for five seasons. ##
