SHOPRITE LPGA EXPECTED TO REMAIN UNTIL AT LEAST 2023

The ShopRite LPGA Classic is expected to remain in South Jersey through at least the year 2023.  An agreement will be announced later today that will continue the tournament in Atlantic County for at least the next six years; it began in 1986. ##

SPORTS: GILBERT NAMED NEW BOYS SOCCER COACH AT MIDDLE TWP.

Longtime Middle Township High School tennis coach Matt Gilbert is now the head coach of the boys’ soccer team.  The Gazette Leader’s Brian Cunniff reports that Gilbert has been appointed to the job by the Board of Education, replacing longtime soccer coach John Maher who resigned. ##

MATT SZCZUR ON A ROLL THIS WEEK WITH THE PADRES

Lower Cape May Regional grad Matt Szczur is having a very good week with his new team, the San Diego Padres.  Szczur scored two runs during a win over the Mets on Wednesday; last night Szczur drove in two runs in another one run win over the Mets. ##

CHAMPS! MIDDLE TOWNSHIP WINS SOUTH JERSEY LACROSSE TITLE

It’s another South Jersey sports championship for Middle Township High School.  The Lady Panthers lacrosse team knocked off Camden Catholic, 17-8 Thursday evening to win the South Jersey Group I lacrosse title.  It’s the first ever championship for the program. ##
