OCEAN CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT HIRES NEW ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

Ocean City High School gets a new athletic director come July 1st.  35 year old Vincent Leavey was hired to the post by the Ocean City Board of Education earlier this month.  He is leaving a position in Coatesville, PA to accept the position in Ocean City, according to Brian Cunniff of the Gazette Leader. SPORTS: TWO MIDDLE TWP. LACROSSE PLAYERS SET STATE RECORDS

Two Middle Township lacrosse players have set all time state records in the same game.  Bridget Ruskey and Allison Hunter set state records for goals and assists during Friday’s 17-11 victory over Mainland.  Ruskey scored eight times and has 440 career goals. ##

SPORTS: MIDDLE BEATS LOWER IN LACROSSE, GIRLS NEAR RECORDS

Middle Township’s girls lacrosse team beat Lower Cape May, 22-6 on Thursday as two Lady Panthers approached all time offensive records.  Bridget Ruskey scored seven goals, and now is just three goals away from the state record.  Allison Hunter had eight assists, leaving her four away from that state record. ##

PLEASANTVILLE HIGH GYM COULD BE NAMED AFTER KEN LEARY

The Pleasantville Board of Education may decide to dedicate the high school gym to honor the legacy of former boys basketball coach Ken Leary.  Leary died in 2016 at the age of 73 after one of the most successful coaching careers in South Jersey history. ##
