STATE’S TOP FEDERAL JUDGE GOING TO PARTIAL RETIREMENT

New Jersey’s top federal judge is going into partial retirement.  Chief Justice Jerome Simandle is assuming senior status and will be replaced by Judge Jose Linares.  Simandale will now hear a reduced number of cases; he’s 68 years old. ##

STATE SCRAMBLES TO MAKE UP REVENUE SHORTFALL IN BUDGET

The State of New Jersey is over a half billion dollars short of projected revenue for the year, so cuts are being made.  State treasury officials told lawmakers this week that Homestead property tax rebate reimbursements will be withheld for two months to local towns as a way to make up for the revenue shortfall. VOICE RECORDER FOUND IN NEW JERSEY JET CRASH

The voice recorder has been found from the Lear jet that crashed in northern New Jersey earlier this week.  The National Transportation Safety Board began its investigation Tuesday, and officials on site say the wind was a concern at the time of the accident that claimed two lives. ##

CHRISTIE’S BUDGET HAS REVENUE SHORTFALLS…AGAIN

Another budget proposed by Governor Christie includes a huge revenue shortfall.  The Office of Legislative Services believes Christie’s new budget falls $687 million short of projections.  The Treasury Department will present its final revenue figures today. ##
