RATING AGENCY SAYS CHRISTIE BUDGET WOULD STRESS SCHOOLS, TOWNS

Standard and Poor’s believes Governor Christie’s proposed $35.5 billion state budget would stress both local school districts and municipalities.  The rating agency says many school districts will not get additional state aid and that will be a problem for these districts as they attempt to meet expenses. ##

CHRISTIE APPEARS AT ADDICTION RECOVERY EVENT IN PATERSON

Governor Christie spent his Sunday in Paterson where he attended an event at a drug recovery center.  Christie is making the recovery from addictions his number one priority during his last year in office; he’s also heading up a White House commission dedicated to opioid addiction recovery. ##

JERSEY SHORE TOWN MAY ELIMINATE PAID FIRE FIGHTERS

A small beach community at the Jersey Shore may decide next week to lay off three paid firefighters.  Deal officials tell the Asbury Park Press that it’s an economic decision; but the firemen may sue, saying the issue is really over an overtime pay dispute. ##

AMAZON OPENS LARGE NJ FACILITY; TWO MORE ON THE WAY

Amazon has opened one of its largest distribution facilities in Cateret, New Jersey.  The new facility is approximately 1 million square feet in size and will employ 2,000 people.  Two more distribution facilities will be opened by Amazon in New Jersey. ##
