Actor Alec Baldwin will head up a democratic fundraiser in New Jersey on June 1st.  Baldwin will appear in Collingswood to raise money for a group that has donated millions of dollars to various democratic legislative candidates in the Garden State. ##

LAWMAKERS LINE UP TO OPPOSE OFFSHORE DRILLING

Lawmakers from around the state are lining up to oppose President Trump’s plan to allow offshore drilling for fuel.  Senators Robert Menendez and Cory Bookers were joined by other lawmakers Monday to begin the fight again against offshore drilling, saying it threatens the state’s economy and environment. ##

CHRISTIE VETOES BILL TO HELP CORRECTIONS OFFICERS

Governor Christie has vetoed a bill that would have provided full benefits to corrections officers who are injured in the line of duty at state prisons.  Christie vetoed the bill on Monday, saying the bill was not “fiscally responsible”.  The measure would have created the same benefits as those enjoyed by police officers. ##

PRESIDENT TRUMP TO SPEND WEEKEND IN THE GARDEN STATE

President Trump is expected to spend the upcoming weekend in New Jersey.  The President’s schedule puts him at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster.  There will be a temporary restriction of airspace at some northern New Jersey airports for the President’s arrival. ##
