WILDWOOD POLICE DOG, HANDLER BOTH COMPLETE SPECIAL TRAINING

Wildwood’s new police dog “Vera” and her handler, Patrolman Christopher Katz, have both completed their training at the Atlantic County K9 Academy.  Wildwood Police announced on social media that both Vera and Katz were trained on K9 patrol practices and for narcotics detection.  Katz was also awarded the academy’s Instructor Appreciation Award. ##

WILDWOOD BEACH PATROL ANNOUNCES LIMITED LIFEGUARDS AFTER LABOR DAY

The Wildwood Beach Patrol will guard a limited number of beaches after the Labor Day holiday.  The Patrol will also not provide any lifeguarding services after biker weekend, the weekend after Labor Day.  Beach taxi service will be available through September 10th. ##

WILDWOOD FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDS TO DWELLING FIRE

The Wildwood Fire Department responded to a residential fire on East Andrews Avenue early Friday afternoon.  Fire officials say the blaze was contained to the kitchen area in a third floor unit.  The fire was extinguished, no injuries are reported.  Damage estimates are in the neighborhood of $5,000. ## Photo from Wildwood Fire Department

REPORT: WILDWOOD BOARDWALK MR. SOFTEE STORE CLOSES

One Mr. Softee ice cream store on the Wildwood boardwalk has closed and a second one is now rebranded.  The Press of Atlantic City reports that the owner of the stores is facing a lawsuit for allegedly not paying full royalty fees last year.  The owner was ordered by a judge last week to stop [...]
